To support this development, we are looking for a Senior Lead Engineer Medium Voltage to play a central role in the development and industrialization of our customer projects within Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

In this role, you will become an important part of developing customer-specific medium voltage solutions while ensuring safe, reliable, and grid-compliant deployments at scale. In addition to core product engineering, you will support customer projects by driving integration activities and delivering optional tailoring to meet site and grid requirements.

You will work across the full project lifecycle, combining product ownership with hands-on project involvement to ensure efficient and high-quality execution.

In the Energy Storage Systems department, we are responsible for developing, implementing, and testing new designs in close collaboration with our Global Technology team.You will become part of a multicultural department with colleagues located in Denmark, Germany, Poland, and India.

Responsibilities

As Senior Lead Engineer Medium Voltage, you will play a key role in developing and integrating medium voltage solutions for our customer projects within BESS.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning customer-specific product design and leading MV transformer specification, RMU configuration, and power converter integration, including controls, protections, and interfaces
  • Developing and maintaining single line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, protection philosophies, interlock logic, and cable schedules
  • Engineering MV protection and coordination according to ANSI/IEC standards, including relays, settings, and fault studies
  • Defining and validating interfaces across LV, MV, and DC domains, including auxiliary systems
  • Executing product qualification activities together with the test and validation department, including FAT procedures, type test coordination, and compliance documentation
  • Supporting customer projects with site-specific integration, optional customization, BOM alignment, and technical clarifications with EPCs, developers, and utilities
  • Contributing to grid interconnection packages and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Collaborating with suppliers and manufacturing teams on build-to-print packages, quality checks, and DFMA improvements

Our requirements

We imagine that you have experience within medium voltage engineering and grid-connected power systems from an international environment, and that you are motivated by working in a dynamic organization characterized by growth and development.

In addition, you bring:

 

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline
  • 3–8+ years of experience with medium voltage systems (typically 10–40 kV) and grid-connected power conversion
  • Strong experience with MV transformer, RMU, and inverter/power converter specification and integration for customer-specific solutions
  • Strong knowledge of protection and coordination, earthing/grounding, switchgear, and interlocking
  • Hands-on experience producing SLDs, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using tools such as EPLAN or equivalent
  • Familiarity with commissioning workflows, including FAT and SAT activities

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with BESS, E-houses, or containerized MV solutions
  • Knowledge of grid codes and interconnection standards, including studies using ETAP, PowerFactory, or PSCAD
  • Exposure to thermal management, arc flash studies, and auxiliary power design
  • Field experience within commissioning, troubleshooting, or failure analysis
