Director - Health & Safety M/F

We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Global Safety Director to develop, implement, and manage health and safety programs, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees. This role involves overseeing compliance with safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, fostering a culture of safety within the organization, and leading incident investigations to identify and mitigate potential hazards. The Global Safety Director will also be accountable for ensuring that actions from any safety incidents are implemented.

Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety Programs: Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety programs.
  • Compliance: Oversee compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Incident Investigations: Lead investigations into workplace accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Global Standardization: Ensure global standardization and alignment across various functions and sites, utilizing a proactive approach and a behavioral design mindset.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and contribute to strategy development across sites/functions to continuously improve performance.
  • Internal Strategy Discussions: Drive and facilitate internal strategy discussions, aligning with fellow SLT members and the extended team.
  • Management Structure: Ensure management structure and associated meetings, reporting, and deliverables are timely and effective.
  • Coaching and Support: Interact, support, coach, and guide colleagues within the SLT team and extended team.
  • Safety Culture: Lead and support the Global HS Team in implementing a proactive safety culture.
  • Advisor to Management: Act as a trusted advisor to management on health and safety matters, providing guidance and recommendations for strategic decision-making.
  • Safety Policies: Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with global.

Our requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a global safety management role, preferably in the oil and gas industry but with a broad industrial understanding.
  • Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or similar certifications.

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to continuously improve safety performance in a global setting with respect to different cultures.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Proactive and able to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.
  • Commitment to promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Thrive in an ambitious company with a high level of drive.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50 days a year.
