We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer and high current conductors to take part on the design of Power supply units and Power Converters for the Hydrogen and Wind industry, as a part of our Product & Engineering Solutions (P&ES) business unit. 

Purpose of the position:

Power converters development and manufacturing is a growing business at KK Wind Solutions. With a promising sales pipeline within the Hydrogen and Wind industry, KK Wind Solutions is looking for a Mechanical engineer that can take over detailed design of Power Converters as well as Concept generation for Power Supply units to enable sales and provide first technical solutions to customers.

You have the freedom for architectural guidance of the further development during the entire product life cycle: specification, design setup, implementation, verification & validation, preparation for serial manufacturing and handover to the production team.

You will be part of a team who is accountable for Mechanical design of the KK own IP Power converters and that should also be ready to support value engineering activities on our customer’s designs.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical 3-D design (preferably with SolidWorks) and architectural system concepts, considering power converters and high current conductors electrical requirements, including cable tray and busbar trunk designs
  • Specify heat exchanger systems for the Cooling Systems Design department and develop innovative, efficient electrical conductor solutions, including those using additive manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical team and Product Management to define a modular product family while ensuring communication with workstreams and stakeholders
  • Use design supporting methods & tools (e.g., FEM calculations, requirement management, D-FMEA, risk assessments) and monitor project performance including time, scope, budget, product cost, and quality
  • Maintain technical expertise via cross-functional training with channels such as online courses, fairs, and conferences

Our requirements

  • Education background on Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering, Master or comparable degree
  • Minimum 3 years design engineer experience in an innovative, collaborative and global working environment
  • Ability to take occasional international travel to Production and Type test site (≈20 days/year)
  • Fluent in English
