In this role, you will become an important part of defining and executing development projects while ensuring customer and quality requirements are met – all with a strong focus on serial production and the most cost-effective solutions.

You will drive everything from early concept development to supplier scouting, detailed mechanical design, and verification/testing. At the same time, you will ensure that products are engineered for a lifetime of more than 20 years, can withstand global environmental conditions, and support efficient installation and transportation.

Energy Storage Systems Department

In the Energy Storage Systems department, we are responsible for developing, implementing, and testing new designs in close collaboration with our Global Technology team.

You will become part of a multicultural department with colleagues located in Denmark, Germany, Poland, and India.

Responsibilities

As Senior Lead Mechanical Engineering, you will play a key role in developing mechanical solutions for our customer projects within BESS.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading conceptual mechanical design for customer projects, including enclosure structures, mechanical layouts, component integration, and safety features
  • Performing supplier scouting and selection for enclosures, cooling systems, and mechanical components
  • Collaborating closely with suppliers to deliver detailed mechanical designs while ensuring compliance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency
  • Developing and maintaining all mechanical engineering deliverables
  • Ensuring the mechanical design support
  • Driving verification and testing activities, including structural tests, thermal tests, vibration testing, IP rating validation, corrosion assessments, and environmental testing.
  • Supporting cross-functional collaboration with electrical, power electronics, controls, manufacturing, and certification teams.
  • Managing mechanical BOMs, specifications, and production documentation

Our requirements

We imagine that you have experience within mechanical engineering and system-level design from an international environment, and that you are motivated by working in a dynamic organization characterized by growth and development.

In addition, you bring:

Must have

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience with enclosure and system-level mechanical design for power conversion or energy storage systems (e.g., PCS, BESS, Switchgear)
  • Strong proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or NX
  • Experience integrating heavy components such as transformers, switchgear, or power electronics into mechanical assemblies
  • Experience working with suppliers, including RFQs, co-design, DFM/DFA, and prototypes

Nice to have

  • Background in BESS, E-houses, or containerized power solutions
  • Experience with FEA, vibration testing, seismic considerations, or structural simulations
  • Knowledge of global installation requirements and logistics
  • Familiarity with compliance, fire safety, and EMC-related mechanical design constraints
