Senior Lead - IT Operations

Responsibilities

  • Lead operations of enterprise Linux environments, including Ubuntu LTS and Red Hat.
  • Oversee server installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning, and security compliance.
  • Manage lifecycle activities for Linux-based platforms, including standardisation and retirement of unsupported systems.
  • Own VMware platform operations, including clusters, storage integration, networking, hypervisor patching, upgrades, and capacity planning.
  • Support virtual server provisioning, troubleshooting, and infrastructure optimisation.
  • Maintain reliable on-prem and hybrid server infrastructure supporting critical business applications.
  • Improve monitoring, alerting, incident response, and platform reliability to reduce reactive support.
  • Drive automation and configuration management using Terraform or similar tools.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards, audit requirements, logging, hardening, and access controls.
  • Act as a senior technical escalation point, mentor teams, and collaborate with global IT, developers, and business stakeholders.
  • Maintain clear documentation, operational runbooks, and support planning for hardware, licences, and future platform improvements.

Our requirements

  • Educational background in Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Expert knowledge of enterprise Linux systems, including Ubuntu, Red Hat, and SUSE.
  • Strong expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, clustering, and virtual networking.
  • Experience with storage and backup integrations in virtualised environments.
  • Ability to design high-availability and disaster recovery architectures for mission-critical Linux workloads.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles applied to server and virtual machine platforms
