Lead Mechanical Engineer - Power Backup Systems M/F

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with expertise in complex assembly constructions where mechanical integrity is just as critical as electrical design? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

At KK Groupin our factory in Szczecin, we are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of the mechanical design of battery systems ranging from 20 kg to more than 5 tons. Working closely with electrical engineers and other specialists, you will play a key role in developing robust solutions that ensure reliable operation when grid power is no longer available.

You will be part of an end-to-end engineering environment, taking responsibility for designing, validating, and ensuring compliance of battery systems throughout their lifecycle. Our solutions operate in demanding environments where vibration resistance, corrosion protection, structural integrity, and thermal performance are essential.

In this role, you will lead mechanical design activities from concept to release, contributing your technical expertise to create high-quality, reliable, and compliant battery systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop battery systems with a strong focus on quality and reliability
  • Lead the mechanical design of cabinets, structural solutions, and thermal management systems
  • Perform simulations (ANSYS) to evaluate structural integrity
  • Lead and facilitate mechanical design reviews, ensuring documentation is reviewed and approved before release
  • Manage mechanical and thermal challenges in close collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams
  • Create component specifications for supplier-sourced components
  • Review and interpret customer requirements and ensure design compliance
  • Drive and contribute to D-FMEA activities
  • Participating in First Article Inspections (FAI) together with Technical Project Leads when required
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in the KK ERP system
  • Create type test specifications in collaboration with System Engineers and Test Engineers
  • Prepare technical documentation, including service manuals and technical dossiers, in line with legislation and customer requirements
  • Ensure designs comply with DfX (Design for X) principles

Our requirements

 

  • 5+ years of proven engineering experience
  • Experience with D-FMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
  • Knowledge of EN 60068-2-6, EN 60068-2-27, and EN 60068-2-64 standards
  • Familiarity with the UL 508A standard
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM
  • Ability to work independently while providing technical leadership and guidance to others
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
